I contacted Jakes Design because my once pleasant backyard space was losing its appeal. Additionally, there was a potential erosion issue developing on the hillside of a ravine. The space was quite limited, and I envisioned an area where I could engage in gardening and attract wildlife. Jake and their team conducted a thorough survey of the area and designed/developed a space where my wife and I could plant vegetables, herbs, and perennials. They also laid down gramma grass seed to mitigate the erosion problem. The space is currently in an amazing state, eagerly awaiting the arrival of spring and the attraction of hummingbirds and butterflies. As an added bonus, I installed a “Birdbuddy(s)” to observe the birds feeding. Jake and their team are professional and highly detail-oriented. We recently completed a two-phase landscaping redesign with Jake’s Design beginning in summer of 2024 with the front of the house and completing the rest of the project in October 2025. From our very first meeting, the team took time to understand our style preferences and tailored their design to perfectly complement our property and lifestyle.
What stood out most during the design process was how attentive the designers were to both aesthetics and budget. There was a designer change between phase 1 and phase 2. For phase 2, Justin met with us to review the initial design plan and adjusted the plan to incorporate elements for more trees/privacy, patio zones, lawn and lighting elements. Justin also had a lot of patience in working with us to ensure we found the exact right plantings and materials to match our vision while working with the aesthetic of our property.
For install, Sam led an impressive crew with several returning members from the first phase. Steven, James, Tebow, Greg, Billy, and Wally arrived on time, kept the job site clean and organized, and provided clear updates on progress. Their professionalism and attention to detail made a big difference, and we appreciated knowing exactly what would be happening each day.
They happily answered questions and addressed any concerns. If the tree placement didn’t look quite aligned…they gladly got out the tape measure to make sure the spacing was just right. They wanted it to be perfect and for us to be happy with the results – down to every tree/plant placement! Never did they make me feel like my check-ins were irritating/annoying.
Justin and Sam also helped us manage adjustments during installation and clearly communicated estimates and work order changes, e.g., explaining a change to the retaining wall due to the grading of the yard, adjusting the lighting placements, or working with Matt on how we could cover our native grass area with just one additional sprinkler zone to minimize costs.
Now that both phases are complete, we’re thrilled with how everything turned out. Our yard looks beautiful and has multiple functional spaces thanks to Jake’s Designs’ commitment to quality and communication. We highly recommend Jake’s team to anyone in the Colorado Springs area who’s looking for talented designers and a professional crew that truly cares about their work. Our neighbors have already noticed and commented on the transformation. We’d recommend Jake’s Design without hesitation.

Jake's Designs was a great landscaping company to work with. Justin, their estimator/designer alone had 18+ years of experience with landscaping and designing, and it showed, with prompt and upfront communication all through the project. The guys who came out to do the walkway prep, pour the concrete, and finishing/final moving of the landscaping rocks were great - I don't remember their names (apologies!) but they were great to work with. Jake's Designs gets our vote for anyone needing landscaping work in the Springs.

A special thanks to Sam and his crew with Jake’s designs. We had a massive backyard project on our hands that we had been avoiding for several years. With the backyard being a unique slope/grade this needed a professional design and execution. We are so pleased with the design work from Justin. He suggested we take out 2/3 of our yard to level it out to create more functional space for our family. He designed a really relaxing space to include a dream fire pit we get to enjoy for years to come.
Matt and Sam lead a really great team to overhaul our backyard. What would have taken us months they knocked out in a few short weeks.
A special extra thanks to the crew: Wally, James, Billy, Matt, and Tim. They worked so hard! But they were also a pleasure to have around. The guys checked in on us each day and accommodated the little changes along the way with ease. They were tidy and cleaned up after each day to minimize the disturbance to the neighbors.

WOW!! We officially have the best landscape in the neighborhood. The design is unique and compliments the natural forest surroundings. The bubbling moss boulders are stunning and calming. Their attention to detail and experience definitely shines through, no detail was overlooked. True professionals.
If you want a landscape that you can enjoy for 40-50yrs, hire them. Dani, Matt, and Chris are a dream team.

We couldn’t be more thrilled with how our backyard turned out. What started as an uninspiring, uninviting space has been totally transformed into an oasis that we love and can’t wait to host family and friends. It all starts with a phenomenal design by our designer, Justin. He worked with us, developed multiple iterations, and stayed in contact throughout the entire install process. He was so patient as we worked through some unforeseen constraints and ultimately created a perfect design that fulfilled our wants and desires. Justin was fantastic to work with and we can’t recommend him more. We also can’t speak more highly of the install crew that brought Justin’s design to life. Everyone (Daniel Diaz - PM, Matt - Construction Manager, Ricky - Foreman, James, Davie, Nate, and Jacob) was absolutely fantastic to work with. They really went out of their way to make sure we were completely happy with the install and were so friendly. The project involved removal of existing rock and turf, reshaping of turf area with new irrigation, addition of two mulch beds, a beautiful fire pit area with small rock retaining wall, boulder installation, planting of trees and shrubs, and patio extension with a beautiful concrete walkway down a rather treacherous slope. We are so appreciative to them for all their hard work in making our backyard the perfect place to relax. Thank you to the entire time at Jake’s Designs for everything. We had such a wonderful experience from start to finish and can’t recommend them more.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Jake’s Designs Inc. for a complete landscaping overhaul in our backyard, and the results are nothing short of amazing! From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome.
The team, including Sam, Steven, Billy, Greg, Adrian, and Tebow, were absolutely fantastic. They were on time every day, kept the work area clean, and made sure all equipment, dirt, and materials were neatly piled and not disruptive to the neighbors. They truly went above and beyond to keep everything peaceful and organized, which we really appreciated.
They did an incredible job removing the failing railroad ties that were part of the old retaining wall, and the transformation was impressive. They pushed back the wall, removed large amounts of dirt, and then built a gorgeous curved stone wall with three sets of stairs that really elevated the entire look of the yard. They also installed beautiful lights into the retaining wall, which added an incredible ambiance to our yard in the evenings.
Additionally, the team laid pavers in key areas, which gave our space a clean, polished look, and reinstalled rocks around the yard to help tie everything together beautifully. They also created a level area for the artificial grass installation (handled by another team) and replaced the back fence (also done by another team).
In addition to all of this, Sam, Steven, Billy, Greg, Adrian, and Tebow tackled drainage repairs and redirection, and they planted several beautiful trees that added a great finishing touch.
A special shout-out to Justin, the project lead and designer, who made the whole process so smooth. He was easy to work with, very communicative, and did an excellent job planning out every detail. His design vision truly brought our backyard to life, and the results turned out even better than we could have imagined.

We are so pleased with the job Jake's Designs did with our backyard pool project. We worked with Dani, the landscape architect and she brought our dream/vision to life. The area is just stunning. Boulder walls, pavers, new irrigation, sod, spectacular evergreens and plants, i just am amazed how fab it looks. Dani was a dream to work with, we changed our mind many times during the design process and she gladly made the changes to our plans and it is just breathtaking. Sam and his crew did a fantastic job with the installation, they were great and easy to have around. I don't know who the Jake is in Jake's designs, I never met or saw him. The entire thing was the spectacular work of Dani. My husband and I jokingly call it "Dani's Designs" because she is an absolute visionary and runs the project from the beginning to end! I cannot recommend, Dani and Sam and his crew highly enough. Hire them --- you won't be disappointed.
